Trends and Innovations

EXINTEX is the most important trade fair in Mexico. The biennial event for the Latin American textile industry is taking place in a challenging environment. After some harder years, the sector has new wind in its sails. It benefits among other reasons from a governmental program that helps to protect the industry against competition from Asia by offering affordable loans to manufacturers. In order to stay competitive, the textile plants have to be more productive and quality oriented while at the same time being cost-effective. Many companies accept the challenge by investing in new machinery.  

The EXINTEX show presents a platform for international key players from the complete supply chain of the textile industry. Exhibitors and visitors from over 30 countries are expected at the trade fair grounds in October.

Weft straightening the way it should be

The Orthopac RVMC is the universally employable straightening system from Mahlo for the correction of web distortions for nearly all applications. Available with hydraulic or electrical straightening roller adjustment.

The modular construction allows the system to be configured to meet the demands of changing conditions and requirements.

The Orthopac VMC is a modular process control system for textile refinement. It optimises drying or fixing processes as well as the processes all about the stenter.

The system measures, logs and controls critical process parameters over the entire working width:

  • Temperature
  • Dwell time
  • Residual moisture
  • Exhaust air moisture
  • Thread density
  • Weight

This increases quality while saving resources and energy. The modular design of the system allows its flexible adaptation to all applications. Both, standard requirements and highly customized demands are thus met.

The system can also be integrated into an Orthopac straightening system. It thereby combines the functionality of a weft straightener with that of a process control system in one compact device

Optimising the heat output of drum dryers depending on the product

Condensate temperature control

The Atmoset SMT regulates the residual moisture of the tissue with steam-heated cylinder dryers. The deviation of the condensate temperature from a preset setpoint is used to directly calculate the amount of energy required for drying. The heating output is optimised according to the product.

The Atmoset SMT enables a stable and effective drying process. The optimal degree of drying is always reached, regardless of the weight of the product or the web speed.

Unregulated cylinder dryers dry according to dwell time

With wet treatment, a certain dwell time of the product in the processing stages may often not be fallen below. Light products therefore pass the process just as fast as heavy products, running over a subsequent drum dryer at the same speed. Heavy products require a longer drying time than light ones. Consequently, the driers are designed for the heaviest product.

Heavy products are dried just correctly, but all other products are overdried. Enormous amounts of energy are thus wasted.

Less energy consumption

The Atmoset SMT enables a stable and effective drying process. The optimal degree of drying is always reached, regardless of the weight of the product or the web speed. Continuity of the production process and reproducibility of the product quality are ensured.

The energy consumption of the dryers drops significantly due to the optimised heat output. This saves energy costs.

Area of application

Drum dryers can be found in many production and finishing plants in the textile industry. They dry the product after wet treatment, such as continuous bleaching, mercerization, colour and print afterwash, etc.
