National Plastics Trade Fair

Single-sided measuring frame

The UniScan M or UniScan S traversing frames are the single-sided counterpart to the double-sided O-frames of the WebPro series, and have been specially designed to accommodate the single-sided sensing devices of the Mahlo QMS family.

This single-sided arrangement enables the frame to be easily retrofitted to existing systems, with the measuring sensors arranged above, below or at the side of the measuring frame. The Uniscan M accommodates up to three sensors.

WebPro M traversing scanners are found on a wide variety of web processing applications in an assortment of industries, and are legendary for their robust construction and superior reliability providing a low cost of ownership. Scanners of this type can handle products of up to 4 meters in width with up to a total of 3 different measurement sensors.

Their compact design and ultra-precise traverse mechanisms enable them to be installed even where space is at a premium and at any angle to suit the given product/web flow.

C-frame Webpro C

C-frame

The traversing frames of the type WebPro C are used for applications where much dirt is generated or the measuring head must be moved completely out of the product web. This type is available for horizontal or vertical product guidance and distinguishes itself by the robust, reliable and dirt-resistant design. It can be vertically employed to a product width of 1.2 metres and one sensor or horizontally of 2 metres and 1 sensor (more upon request).

A fixed measuring point is used in simple applications where no cross-section of the entire web has to be measured.

As standard, the mounting frame consists of aluminum profiles, covers a width of up to 6m and can carry up to 3 sensors. However, other sizes or sensor numbers are readily available upon request.

Transmission of beta rays

The weight monitoring and control system measures the weight continuously, without contact, destruction-free and on moving product. The measurement is based on the attenuation of rays from a radioactive isotope through the substrate located in the measuring gap. This attenuation in intensity is an indication of the weight of the product.

The Gravimat uses a target weight to reduce the range of different m2 weights and thereby ensure a more consistent product.
