Gravimax MMX
Measurement of basis weight / component composition
X-ray absorption, X-ray backscatter: basis weight & component measurement
The Gravimax-MMX-R platform features X-ray sensors (absorption and backscatter) for measuring basis weight and heavy component distribution, fully integrated into the Qualiscan QMS quality management system. The modular design of the Gravimax-MMX-R platform delivers a new generation of radiometric measurement technology, suitable across industries - from nonwovens and paper to fiberglass, compounds, building, and insulation materials, covering everything from lightweight goods to extremely heavy basis weights.
Product highlights
- non-radioactive
- contactless, non-destructive
- a range of sensor variants for all key applications
Customer benefits
- Exceptional measurement accuracy across an extremely wide range of surface weights
- Lower operating costs and easier integration
- Consistently high quality and reduced waste
The Gravimax MMX sensor consists of a compact X-ray tube with a power supply, as well as specialised, state-of-the-art X-ray detectors with integrated data acquisition electronics. It is completely immune to environmental influences such as temperature and humidity. Semiconductor detectors replace traditional ionisation chambers and enable higher resolution without the need for high-voltage components. An optimised 50 kV X-ray tube significantly reduces the need for radiation protection.
The combination of backscatter and transmission measurement enables the simultaneous determination of basis weight and heavy components using just a single sensor.
