Works council presents cheque from employee donations
€600 for VfL Kelheim
Mahlo GmbH + Co. KG employees have donated €600 to VfL Kelheim. The symbolic cheque was presented by works council chairman Matthias Ziegler and his deputy Eric Schneider to club chairman Tobias Müller.
Doing good together has long been a tradition at Mahlo. Over the past year, employees of the mechanical engineering company raised money for social and charitable causes through a variety of activities, including Christmas raffles, bake sales and a bratwurst barbecue held during the company’s traditional Maypole celebration. One aspect is particularly important: employees themselves help decide which organisations and associations receive support. This time, the choice fell on VfL Kelheim – a club with which many Mahlo employees have close personal and sporting ties.
Tobias Müller, chairman of VfL Kelheim, accepted the symbolic donation cheque from works council chairman Matthias Ziegler and deputy chairman Eric Schneider. “We are extremely pleased to receive this donation and would like to sincerely thank Mahlo and its employees,” said Müller. “Especially in the current situation, the club can make very good use of the funds.”
The club is currently facing a project that is both significant and challenging: the purchase of the long-established sports grounds in Kelheim-Affecking. The site, which currently belongs to the city of Kelheim and covers around 25,000 square metres, could in future be taken over by the five clubs based there. “Naturally, we want to seize this opportunity to secure the future of sports in Kelheim,” Müller explained. However, the purchase price would be difficult for the clubs to manage on their own, which is why they are relying on donations. A crowdfunding campaign has even been launched to support the effort. “Every euro helps.”
Mahlo, in turn, is happy to support regional initiatives, as Ziegler emphasised: “Social commitment is part of Mahlo’s DNA. Every year, our employees demonstrate tremendous generosity when it comes to charitable causes.”
