German machine builder showcases systems for more efficient plastic production.Chinaplas, the leading trade shows for plastics and rubber in China, once again invites international key players from this potential sector. From 17 to 20 April the expert Mahlo Team with Chinese Chief Representative Frank Fei welcomes visitors at booth 10D01.
"The challenges for the plastics industry continue to grow," says Frank Fei, Mahlo’s China Chief Representative. "Products get more complex, manufacturers should produce more effectively but more sustainable at the same time". To make this possible in practice, Mahlo offers concrete solutions with the Qualiscan QMS quality measurement system. The modular system, which is also composed of sensors and measuring frames, measures, records, and controls critical parameters such as basis weight, moisture or layer thickness over the entire fabric width. In this way, the energy efficiency of the production systems can be drastically increased, the raw material costs can be optimised, and production can be more sustainable.
Eleven different sensors with various measuring methods from beta to x-ray and light band shadowing are available to the customer, depending on the application. At this year’s Chinaplas, Mahlo sets one focus on non-nuclear measurement. The Infrascope NIR sensor uses infrared radiation to determine measured values. "By evaluating different absorption spectra, the moisture content as well as the basis weight of different components in the web can be determined simultaneously”, Fei explains. Very thin silicon coatings with 0,3 - 0,5 g/m² can be measured easily and precisely.
For especially thin coats, where other systems reach their limits, Mahlo still has an ace up its sleeve with the Optoscope WLI. With the help of white-light interference phenomenon, the sensor can measure varnish coats down to a thickness of 0.4 µm.
A visit to the Mahlo stand is therefore worthwhile for the trade fair visitors, because: "With our systems, which we would like to explain to the audience at Chinaplas in more detail, we would like to provide answers to important and urgent questions for the world of plastics processing".
