Mahlo OnStage: Battery Show USA

Mahlo America takes part in the Battery Show USA, hosted from 8 to 10 October in Detroit. At booth 6106 in hall A-C, the expert team advice manufacturers of battery film how to bring their production on a new level.

The coating thickness and weight of separator film, anode and cathode are crucial for high quality batteries. The coating quality of anode and cathode materials must not vary from left to right but has to be uniform. Only if thickness and weight are optimum, you can produce long-lasting and safe batteries.

Even small deviations in the coating during the production process can affect the layout and function of the end product. Uneven coating can even create a thermal hot spot, a local overheating due to design heterogeneities.

The basis weight of the anode and cathode coating is measured before and after the coating line. Depending on the application, we use our DFI beta transmission sensors or X-ray sensors. Coating of the electrode material can be continuous, in rows of coated strips or in discontinuous sections.

The continuous on-line measurement enables a clear and immediate understanding of the coating quality in real time. This allows the user to react immediately to any abnormalities and eliminate them.
