Baking Cookies for a Good Cause
Christmas Joy for the Retirement Home
When the scent of cinnamon and sugar fills the hallway by the canteen, it’s a clear sign: our Christmas elves – in the form of our kitchen team, trainees, and colleagues – are busy baking cookies again.
This year, however, it’s not just the Mahlonesen who get to enjoy the colorful treats. The residents of the AWO retirement home in Saal also received a little Christmas surprise. Owner Aura Greenwood-Mahlo, together with trainee Corinna Poschenrieder, delivered ten generously filled cookie plates to the facility.
During a cozy coffee gathering with a group of lively senior ladies, not only they but also the home’s director, Frank Hirche, enjoyed the festive baked goods. Over mulled wine and punch, a warm and cheerful round of conversation quickly developed. Hirche expressed his heartfelt thanks on behalf of all residents for this thoughtful gesture: “Encounters like these bring warmth to our daily lives and show that our seniors are not forgotten.” With a wink, he suggested, “Maybe this could become a tradition for the coming years.”
